Delete files after unsync'ing

I am using NC 28.x

I have the next cloud application installed on my desk top and laptop.

I finally installed the next cloud app on my phone .

I was happy to be able to get them uploaded to Next Cloud.

But, there are more files that expected, and my laptop is running out of space.

I have 2 folders:
Folder 1 - seems to have all photos on my phone - whatsap, facebook, camera, etc…
Folder 2 - Seems to have images only take from the camera

On my laptop, I changed the setting so that I will no longer sync folder 1.

While this will stop more photos from being downlaoded, I still have the already downlaoded ones.

If I delete them, will they be deleted if I decide in the future to start synchronizing that folder again?

Thanks

You may want to consider using VFS (Virtual Files): Appendix B: History and Architecture — Nextcloud Client Manual 3.13.83 documentation

Thi sis one options. BUt:

1 - it is not yet available. Latest version if 3.13 of the desktop app. This feature is for version 3.2
2 - I need a solution to my current situation. Since I unchecked it, and no more files are be in downloaded form that folder. Can I just erase them, and they will disappear. But, will they disappear if I decide to synchronize them again one day?

Thanks for the great news, and future solution though:)

Joseph

VFS has been available for a LONG time. 3.2 came out >3 years ago.

3.2 < 3.13.

Well, if it is available, the two extr amenu options shown in the images are not available:
availability
disable virtual file support

So, It might not be anew feature, but I do not have it available in my version of next cloud application. (v3.12)

Ideas?

Thanks

What platform are you on?

LInux Mint,

Unfortunately, the function with virtual files is only available for Linux (and MacOS) on an experimental basis.

This feature is currently only available on Windows by default. Linux and MacOS implementations are experimental and must be enabled by adding showExperimentalOptions=true to the nextcloud.cfg configuration file in the App Data folder.

You can enable it (see above), but it may not work. I know from Ubuntu that there is an option in the settings to add a Nextcloud account. I don’t know how this works in Linux Mint.

Would Webdav be an alternative? If only the files are important to you (and you don’t need to see Nextcloud notifications in the app, for example), that might be an option.

Regarding your original problem: I wouldn’t delete the files, I think they will be deleted from your NC as well. You could uninstall the Nextcloud client and then delete the files.

Best regards!
