Delete calendar events only locally

Hi,

It’s not an issue, more a question (I couldn’t find something relevant for my use case on the wider internet).

So, we’re a non-profit organization, and there we have some events, some meetings, etc…

I would like to be able to share the calendar with the volunteers, so they can also edit the calendar if and when needed.

However, most are non very tech-savvy, and I’m afraid that if they see an event which they won’t be able to attend to, they simply delete the event in their local (smartphone) calendar (to clean up their own calendar and keep what they will actually really be busy with - I mean, I would totally do that), but doing so, my understanding is they would delete the event on the server as well, ie for every one else, right ?

Is there a possibility to share the calendar with them, even allow them to add or modify stuff, but if/when they delete an event, they only delete it on their local calendar and not on the server ?

Now, I could prevent from deletion, but I’m afraid that if I don’t allow them to delete stuff locally, ie the event will continue to show in their calendar, they’ll simply stop following/synching the organization calendar (which defeats the purpose of sharing it in the first place).

Any ideas ?

EDIT : and since volunteers come and go, often without telling anyone, I’d rather like to avoid creating new users everytime…
