DB on HDD or on microSD of RasPi?

Hello everybody,

what are the pros and cons of having the DB on the external drive vs. on the RasPis microSD? I can only think of those right now:

  • DB on the microSD might be faster, but less storage
  • DB on the HDD keeps DB and files on the same storage

Maybe there are other thoughts to consider…? Thank you for your help in advance!

DB doesn’t need that much storage… and you got the speeds reversed: hdd is faster than microsd, usually.

Hmm, so you would put it onto the HDD? My microSD is a new and fast one whereas my HDDs are not the newest ones and are not connected by USB 3 but USB 2 …

I’d gonna put the DB on the HDD cause it will have a lot of small writes which might increase the war of the SD and make them fail early.
