Could not establish connection to the Collabora Online server after update CODE

Hi,

i am running Nextcloud and Collabora Online within 2 seperate VM’s running Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS. This is working fine with Nextcloud 29.0.8 and Collabora Online Development Edition 24.04.7.2. But when i update CODE to a newer version (like 24.04.9.1 for example) i get “Could not establish connection to the Collabora Online server” within the Nextcloud Office tab. I made sure i preserved the coolwsd.xml config file when i did the update.

Up until now i can fix this by rolling back the VM with a snapshot i made before the update. What can this be and how do i fix this?

Kind regards,
Mart

like for all issues with CODE please follow collabora integration guide, perform the checks and you will likely find the issue

Hi Willi,

thank you for the reply. Before the update (running CODE 24.04.7.2) all of these checks are working fine. After the update (which to me seems to be a minor update) CODE is unreachable. As said, i made sure the coolwsd.xml file is preserved. Nothing has been changed to the configuration of the server itself, Nextcloud and anything else… Is there something else i can check?

I’m running Docker and updated without issues few days ago.

Like always logs and systematic approach like checking things one by one as described in the mentioned guide, analyzing the logs and looking into issues will lead you to success.

Hi, thank you for the replies. I tried the checks from the guide mentioned by you. All these checks are fine before the update and Nextcloud shows it:

After the update of just CODE without changing anything to linux, Nextcloud, the coolwsd.xml file or whatever it shows like this:

Also, testing from clients and the Nextcloud server give timeouts or 502 errors. Is there something else to check? Does the newest update of CODE changes something to other configs than the one i checked?

Thanks again!
Kind regards

I’m running Collabora Online Development Edition 24.04.9.1 as Docker container today. I’m not sure there are additional steps to upgrade on bare-metal… this is the reason and advantage of virtualization - most of the times its easier and maintainers give you a ready system… no need to care about prerequisites…

Hi, after i rolled back the VM from Ubuntu 24.04 to 22.04 CODE is updating AND still working after the update. So it seems it has something to do within the Ubuntu upgrade. Still not sure what that can be, but for now it’s working again!
