Why is it impossible to select text from the client on Ubuntu?

My client displays something like ssl3 read bytes ssl3 alert bad record mac and then restarts to upload after a while, before it shows it again.

Why can’t I copy this text, so that I can paste it here?

Do I have to open the logfile just to copy this text?

No idea, best is to report this directly to the bugtracker on github.com/owncloud/client/issues. Workaround -> Screenshot.
