[Closed] Perform update with new password

[details=“Support intro”]

Sorry to hear you’re facing problems :slightly_frowning_face:

Nextcloud version 27.1.2
Operating system and version Fedora 38
Apache or nginx version Apache 2.4
php version 8.2

I was recently forced to change my passwords for Nextcloud (not sure if it was Nextcloud or Fedora that forced the change). Regardless, my admin account has a new password.

I want to perform an upgrade to the latest version but:

  1. don’t know where to locate the new password
  2. how to extract the encrypted password (using phpmyadmin) to update the config file so the update can be performed.

Did you try resetting your password from the login page as that user?

Yes - the problem is that the password was 8 characters and when I try to reset it (and why I had to reset it) was that the response is that the password must be at least 10 characters.

Try resetting a new password that is more than 10 Characters

That is what I did - now I need to know how to get that “encrypted” password and put it in the config.php so I can perform the update!

Giving this some more thought, I realized that the encrypted password that I was looking for was in the current config.php file. After that light bulb went on, I have been able to upgrade to v 28.0.1
