I’m running into the issue that ChatGPT claims not to be able to access a document that I have shared from Nextcloud publicly. Is this an expected behaviour or is it a misconfiguration on my side?

Yes, this is expected behavior. ChatGPT currently can’t access files shared through external links such as Nextcloud, Google Drive, Dropbox, or any other cloud storage, even if they’re public.
For security and privacy reasons, ChatGPT can only access files that are uploaded directly into the chat interface. External links aren’t fetched or opened automatically.
If you want ChatGPT to read or analyze a document, you’ll need to upload the file directly in the chat instead of sharing a public link.
