Changing data directory for certain user

Hi All,
I have managed to install nextcloud on my ubuntu server.
I haver a folder at /home/shared and would like this to my my default data folder as there are alot of pdfs and files that users upload and download to this folder.
Is this possible to change so when gerald logs in, it will show all the files and folders in this specific directory.

why bother with changing data directory?
Have a look a this:

Simply add local storage pointing at your folder and some/all users will have access from their profile.

Yes, some configuration of permission on the /home/shared might be necessary.
