I want to backup my nextcloud data folder but I cannot access it when logged on with root. I want duplicati to backup the data folder, but when I adjust the owner of the folder to root, nextcloud doesn’t work anymore.
How do I adjust this to make a backup using duplicati?
Root does not have to be the owner in order to access the files…
If you don’t want to use root for loading the files, you could create a dedicated backup user to connect the backup software, then make the backup user member of the www-data group, so it can access these files through the group permissions.
