Can't update to NC19 (NextcloudPi)

Hi, I am running Nextcloud on my Raspberry Pi 4. For some reason I can’t update to Version 19, it didnt show up when I enabled beta updates so I tried it with the NextcloudPi Web Interface. (server:4443)
I put version 19.0.2 to update and got following report.

Does anyone have an idea what the issue coud be?

Cheers Simon

Seems like the Updater hits something unexpected. Can you send more details about your setup ?

I could image it being a file permission error or a broken database table.

But no worries. This Forum has many helpful people

Thanks for your lightning fast response
Yeah, don’t really understand what the issue is. I am really new to nextcloud and also new to linux.

I have been using the ownyourbits.com image for the Installation and did some changes to make my previews work, also upload Size. But didn’t change too much. Maybe enough to break something tho
https://ownyourbits.com/downloads/NextCloudPi_RPi_03-28-20/

What additional Information do you need?
Not sure what to look for here.

In the Nextcloud Settings I can only update to version 18.0.8. (Update Channel: Beta) but when I open the Updater and press “Start update” it says
image

Here is the full update process again from NextcloudPi Web Interface to version 19.0.2, this was an earlier attempt (the first also) but it happened exactley the same.

Rollback failed! Data left at /var/www/ncp-data.nL0ef0

Okay that was apparently the issue.
I just deleted the file cron.php.save in my var/www/nextcloud/ directory and then the update to 18.0.8 worked fine.
After that Update I could also update to 19.0.2 with the updater in Beta mode!
Thx for your help anyways.

Great :+1:

I am having the same issue, except that the cron.php.save is not the one

I tried to update form 18.0.7 to 19.0.2 using NCPs updated, after I upgraded to the latest NCP version which is 1.29.0

Any help how to find that missing “argument”.
Right now NCP tries to restore the database, which I hope works, gonna take a while based on the DB size I have.

Thanks

NCP doesnt show the Problem really good.
For me the database restoring failed, but that was not really an Issue I hope. Everything works fine now.

I would suggest you follow these steps:

  1. Wait until your server is back online and go to Settings->Overview
  2. Change the Update channel to “Beta”. Then you should see a new version. Probably version 18.0.8 since you’re still on 18.0.7
  3. Now click on Open updater and start the update. It will throw an error message if there are any problems. If you fix these issues you should be able to update to 18.0.8 and repeat the process to move on to 19.0.2

You can post your error here aswell if you want.

An upgrade to 18.0.8 using the Nextcloud Updater works, but upgrading to 19.0.2 using the ncp updater (webui or CLI) was throwing the same error again.

no you haven’t because

so next time please be so kind and open a NEW thread for your problem… you could link your problem to one you think of being “the same”…
since you can see, it turns out not being the same problem. and though yours seems solvable it won’t get officially solved… and thus it’ll be in vain for other users with a problem like yours. what a pity. and definitly not intended by the forum.

will do, thanks
