Can't see my files after copying them by hand (from old hd to fresh NC 18 installation)

Had an old NC12 (with a broken Admin section) which died recently.
I Set up a new NC18 which is running fine.

I tried to copy all my files from the old NC12’s data drive to the new one, so I don’t have to upload all of them again (for it’s >30GB). In fact I copied them to /media/USBdrive/ncdata/USERNAME/files.
When I logged in via web interface I could not see them there (only the samples).

I guess NC is keeping metadata somewhere (database?) for all the files and shows only what it finds in the metadata.

Is there a way to simply generate the metadata for the files in my users file folder, so I don’t have to upload all the files again?
