Uploaded files can’t be opened or downloaded

on top of pages under ‘files’ a message is shown:

HBEGIN:oc_encryption_module:OC_DEFAULT_MODULE:cipher:AES-256-CTR:signed:true:HEND

even simple PDF-documents can’t be opened. download of files works. but if i try to open a downloaded file it says 'file can’t be opened.

Any suggestions?

The bit you did post indicates Server Side Encryption was configured at some point. The key question to uncover why this behavior started occurring for you is probably: When did this behavior start occurring?

Same here. All our work is stored on nextcloud, and suddenly nothing available anymore… all files are “corrupted”. how to solve this easily ?

Are you self-hosting or using a provider?

There is a thread here from folks that were using a provider (Tab I think) which apparently got encryption partially enabled and lead to this recently.

Help with encrypted files

Hi, I may have messed up a bit. I had a disk problem recently and ended up having to recover parts of my installation into a new instance. It seemed to go well enough for the most part. All the actual user files were stored on a NAS so I just moved them into the accounts for the new versions of the users. However none of the files are accessible are they are encoded in some fashion. I don’t remember doing so but this has got me thinking that maybe server side encryption might have been turned…

I solved the problem by deleting all files. After uploading the files again, everything was ok. Greetings
