Hi,

since yesterday I used nextcloud on my laptop as an external drive. Yesterday was the first time I needed I file when I was far from home for editing purpose.

So yesterday I installed the client on my fedora with rpm package. reading the documentation there should be an option to only sync files that I want to use. I thought about it like in the windows app, where I could see all filenames but I could chose which file or folder I want to have physically on my machine.

Now I can only see the folders which are synched and all those files are stored locally on my machine. But I want the scheme like in windows where I can say that I only want some folders or files on my laptop, but I can see all files that nextcloud knows.

Hello

File Provider is only the implementation on macOS for on-demand files.

What you would want is [VFS on Linux · Issue #3668 · nextcloud/desktop · GitHub](https://github.com/nextcloud/desktop/issues/3668)

It will be part of the next release. This is an early preview and will not be as much reliable as it is on Windows.

Hi,

thanks for the link. Sounds good so far. Didn’t think it is such a complicated feature. Thought you would have some sort of meta, creating empty files und pulling it’s content, when needed.

I’m really excited to see the feature. But I couldn’t find if it is next minor or major release?
