Cant access :4443

Hi all,

I’m having an issue trying to access the WebUI on my NextcloudPi. I can access the normal Interface using the local IP of the RPI: “https://192.168.2.114”. But I’m trying to acess the WebUI with this: “https://192.168.2.114:4443” but it says that the connection has failed.
I’m using this: https://docs.nextcloudpi.com/en/how-to-configure-nextcloudpi/ where under the section WebUI is described what I’m trying to do. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

Hi!
I am having the same issue. If someone has any idea, it could help a lot.

Is it possible that the network doesn’t allow the connection to proceed ? I mean, is it possible that the 4443 port is not allowed by the network ?

I use Nextcloud at my work, I don’t have any control about my university network…

As far as I understand it, only the management interface of NCP is listening on port 4443, which you shouldn’t make publicly available anyways. Making management interfaces accessible from the internet is generally considered bad security practice, and It would be better to connect to your local network via a VPN in order to perform administrative tasks remotely.

The actual Nextcloud interface, however, should be reachable on port 443, like any other web site, and therefore it should be accessible from your university network or work computer, except of course if they are blocking your site / domain by using some kind of proxy or DNS blocker. This brings us to the next section, which also should answer your initial question:

Yes, it’s not only possible, but very likely, at least if you are talking about your work computer, which I would not recommend to use for personal things anyways. However, many companies, and probably universities too, offer a separate “Guest” or “Student” WiFi network for personal devices, which is usually configured less restrictive.
