Going to today you get a clou out of what is beeing updating, keep in mind main components should not divert to much, the mentioned github repository and the nc server wiki maybe your source. You may read the discussion pinned on top of github issues, too, because you have to upgrade the underlaying distro on your way.
Start with fresh backups, good luck.
