Hi, I am pretty new to Nextcloud, have been using the Snap version for 3-4 months on my home server and I am finally ready to get out from most cloud providers, and very happy about it.
One of my main needs is to archive and access photos from multiple sources, and Memories is a great product for that. Unfortunately I am facing the problem that when I edit a picture, if I click on Save I get a “Error saving image: Forbidden (Imagick extension is not available)” error on the screen, and the modifications are not saved. The editing on screen is ok, I can do everything, but then I get the error when I try to save.
I know that Imagemagik is not part of the snap version for security reason, but I think this should not prevent the usage of Memories editing capabilities, right?
I tried to remove Imagemagik from the server, and reinstall, the result is the same.
Similar to Recognize the Memories app tries to load tensorflow in node.js and will bump into glibc 2.27 and fail due to Snap confinement, so the Memories app won’t work with the snap until this issue is solved.
My issue does not really seem the one described in the bug; Memories works fine in all functionalites (albums, move pictures, delete pictures), the only thing that does not work is saving.
Having said that my workarounds would be:
use Photos - tried that, and the “edit” button just hangs the whole window
use an external photo editor (e.g; Pix) - tried that, but there is no way for me to have Nexcloud “see” the edits - it just keeps showing the old version of the picture, I tried several time to force a rescan with sudo nextcloud.occ files:scan --all. I get no related errors but the picture won’t update.
until the next auto upgrade… when you’ll be asking why the system isn’t upgrading… Memories and Recognize have been the cause of 90% of upgrade issues with the snap, see GitHub · Where software is built
