Cannot launch the Nextcloud files client on Windows 11 at all, again

Hi. I am getting this problem again: the windows 11 nextcloud files client does not launch AT ALL. I’ll copy some relevant information from my previous thread.

NB: I have been using the client normally on this laptop since my first thread. But today I cannot launch the client anymore. I cannot think of anything particular I did on nextcloud.

I am using the Nextcloud-3.15.3-x64 windows client.

Summary of the issue you are facing:

I cannot launch the Nextcloud client AT ALL. Nothing happens. No window, nothing. I only see the Windows mouse shifting to its rolling form for a bit, then back to normal.

I am using an up to date Windows 11 provided by my enterprise (NB: my use of Nextcloud is personnal).

Log entries

I do not seem to have any kind of logs. There is nothing about these failed launches in the Nextcloud folders C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local or Roaming.

What I have though are crashdumps in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\CrashDumps like e.g. nextcloud.exe.24200.dmp. If I need to share any, please provide me with a trusted and non public way to deliver it as I cannot read any of its content.

I tried C:\Program Files (x86)\Nextcloud\nextcloud.exe --logwindow to no avail (same exact result). I also tried to launch the client using an admin account: no difference.

Any lead as of how to investigate further would be welcomed.

PS: the client worked fine yesterday! Booting Windows this morning, the client does not launch anymore.

OK, I just noticed something very weird. Nextcloud launches fine when I unplug my USB-C hub on which is connected 2 external display, a keyboard, a mouse, a headset charger and power supply. What the f Windows?

Debugging another software launch issue (FYI: it’s anki client, see the manual), I noticed that problem.

Any idea?..

The only thing I can think of is a bug in Windows Explorer (Files). Windows 11 24h2 has been quite the buggy piece of software. At random, my SMB shares will fail to connect, and I have to reboot my PC to reconnect them.

I would try making sure your display drivers are up to date at least. Other than that, I don’t know for sure.
