Cannot insert links in Mail composer (URL field stays empty)

Title: Cannot insert links in Mail composer (URL field stays empty)

Environment:

Nextcloud Hub 26 Winter (33.0.2), update channel: Stable

Mail app 5.7.12 (all apps up to date)

Browser: Vivaldi, Opera, Firefox

Steps to reproduce:

Open the Mail app and start a new email.

Select some text in the message body.

Click the “Insert link” button in the toolbar.

In the URL popup, try to paste a link (for example copied from the browser address bar).

Expected behavior:

The pasted URL appears in the URL field and the link is created after confirmation.

Actual behavior:

The URL field stays empty, or the pasted link disappears immediately, so it is impossible to insert a hyperlink.

Notes:

The link bubble appears, so the button works, but the URL cannot be filled.

Pasting the URL directly in the message body works, but without formatted hyperlink.

The issue started after recent updates of Nextcloud / Mail.

I wonder if we should remove this insert link feature completly.

What would you use it for? Most spam classifiers give you a malus anway when the link text and link target do not match.
