### **The Basics**

- Nextcloud Server version _(e.g., 29.x.x)_:
  - **`34.01`**

- Operating system and version _(e.g., Ubuntu 24.04)_:
  - **`Debian GNU/Linux 13 (Trixie); host 13.7, Nextcloud container 13.6`**

- Web server and version _(e.g, Apache 2.4.25)_:
  - **`Apache 2.4.68`**

- Reverse proxy and version \_(e.g. nginx 1.27.2)
  - **`Cloudflare Tunnel, cloudflared 2026.7.2, forwarding directly to the Nextcloud container`**

- PHP version _(e.g, 8.3)_:
  - **`8.5.8`**

- Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Yes / No):
  - **This concerns a missing sharing action rather than an error.**

- When did this problem seem to first start?
  - **Since installation.**

- Installation method _(e.g. AlO, NCP, Bare Metal/Archive, etc.)_
  - **Docker Compose, using the nextcloud:34.0.1-apache image**

- Are you using CloudfIare, mod\_security, or similar? _(Yes / No)_
  - **Yes, Cloudflare Tunnel. Apache does not have mod\_security loaded.**

### Summary of the issue you are facing:

On Nextcloud 34.0.1, I cannot find a _ **Copy link** _ action for an existing email share in the Sharing sidebar. The action is available for ordinary public links.

I want to copy the existing recipient’s share URL so I can send it manually through another communication channel, preserving its permissions and expiration date without creating a separate public share.

Is there a supported setting or workaround to copy an email share’s URL? If this is intentional behavior, could the _ **Copy link** _ action also be made available for email shares?

### Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

1. Open Files and select a file or folder.

2. Open the Sharing sidebar.

3. Enter an external recipient’s email address and create an email share.

4. Open the available actions for that recipient’s share.

5. Notice that there is no _ **Copy link** _ action.

6. Compare this with an ordinary public link share, which offers _ **Copy link** _.

Expected behavior: A _ **Copy link** _ action copies the URL of the existing email share without creating another share or changing its settings.

Actual behavior: The email share does not offer _ **Copy link** _, so I cannot directly copy its URL from the Sharing sidebar.

### Log entries

**No log entries collected. The reported behavior is an unavailable “Copy link” action rather than an error message.**

### Configuration

#### Nextcloud

The output of `occ config:list system` or similar is best, but, if not possible, the contents of your `config.php` file from `/path/to/nextcloud` is fine (make sure to remove any identifiable information!):

**Docker installation using PostgreSQL 16. Maintenance mode is disabled, and no database upgrade is pending. Full configuration omitted because the question concerns a missing sharing UI action.**

#### Apps

The output of `occ app:list` (if possible).

Relevant enabled apps:

- **`files: 2.6.0`**
- **`files_sharing: 1.26.0`**
- **`sharebymail: 1.24.0`**

Hey @IanVG welcome to the Nextcloud community 👋

yes that is correct → consider it like this “security by obscurity”, thus there is no link. Its your file and you’re sharing it with only one person, the email recipient.

if you would like to share the file with multiple recipients, you can either enter multiple mail recipients or create a public share, which you could share by separate email… but that could be shared with others, thus reducing control over who gets to see the file,

Hey @scubamuc , thanks for the super-quick reply! The “security by obscurity” concept makes sense. So what function does the QR code provide?

@IanVG it would enable you to send that QR to the recipient if you preferred.

I’ve installed an additional QR app… that’s not default, so that needs to be installed via the app store if you wanted to use it → its great for other QR-tricks too and integrates nicely into you Nextclouid. Keep in mind, its not a core-app, its a community-app.

try scanning this (its just a text):
