I’m looking for advice on syncing Windows User folders like Documents, Pictures, and Videos. I understand how to move these folders to a different location (e.g., D:\Cloud\Documents), but I’m curious if this is the best approach.
Are there any potential issues I should be aware of when syncing these folders, or any best practices you would recommend? Any insights on optimizing this setup would be greatly appreciated!
If you mostly use the virtual folder sync, meaning you have only a few of the files on your machine copied, the location does not matter that much. So you can use the main drive.
Having a lot of data can be interesting for people syncing large folders that reside on a classical HDD (while the system runs on a SSD). You can also have different sync points, e.g. large data folder on D with everything synced and a second one with working data on a fast ssd.
Only thing in common, such a folder should represent only data from your Nextcloud folder (or parts of it, you can e.g. exclude certain folders). But what is not possible to have a large folder and only sync a part of the subfolders.
So it is up to you how and what you want to synchronize your data.
