I want to create a Nextcloud instance and I want also create a good backup option.
Does it suffice to have one VPS which is not partitioned and save the data to another directory?
Or do I have one VPS which I have to partition into two partitions?
Or do I have two VPS’s and backup the data from VPS #1 to VPS #2
I suppose it depends on your use case, and in particular your RTO and RPO.
For me personally, I simply export the VM that is running nextcloud nightly to an external hard drive nightly. This is good enough for my instance, and I’ve tested it. There is a backup repo you could look at to get started: https://github.com/nextcloud/backup
