> Applying CSS to Contacts Notes

I am using the latest version of Nextcloud and the NOTES field inside the Contacts app no longer works like it use to with a NOTES field that had dynamic sizing when text was pasted into it. Now it has devolved to only allowing pasted text to appear inside a single row field. To fix this annoyance, I installed the Nextcloud “Custom CSS” app and then I tried applying a custom CSS code to **Administration Settings** → **Theming** → **Custom CSS** field.

The CSS code I applied in my ADMIN account is below:

`/* Force the Contacts app notes field to behave as a multiline text field */`
`[data-app="contacts"] .property-notes input,`
`[data-app="contacts"] textarea[name="notes"],`
`[data-app="contacts"] .contacts-note-field {`
`height: auto !important;`
`min-height: 120px !important;`
`white-space: pre-wrap !important;`
`resize: vertical !important;`
`}`

The problem is it does not fix the problem. The NOTES field continues to remove all returns from the text making it unreadable. Does anybody in the community have any advice on how to fix the NOTES field inside the Contacts app so it behaves like it use to in older versions of Nextcloud?

Hey @slipstream welcome back 👋

… you know the ropes here at the forum right? you left out the [support template](https://help.nextcloud.com/t/support-template-please-use-this-when-you-request-support/137402) though!
we’re not about to guess what Version you’re using, so some details could be useful.

there was a situation a while back where the [contacts notes field reacted as you described](https://github.com/nextcloud/contacts/issues/4656), turns out Nextcloud was running dev channel instead of stable channel… but as mentioned above, no [support template](https://help.nextcloud.com/t/support-template-please-use-this-when-you-request-support/137402), just guessing!
