App password expired?

Nextcloud version (eg, 20.0.5): 23.0.9
Operating system and version (eg, Ubuntu 20.04): Debian Bullseye
Apache or nginx version (eg, Apache 2.4.25): 2.4.54
PHP version (eg, 7.4): 7.4.30

The issue you are facing:
My Android version of DAVx5 suddenly stopped syncing my Nextcloud data. I ended up tracing it to a bad app password. However, I had not changed my app password on DAVx5 or in Nextcloud.

Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Y/N): Y

Steps to replicate it:

  1. See that DAVx5 is complaining that a calendar wont sync
  2. Dig through the logs since the error messages on Nextcloud are unhelpful
  3. Reset the app password to re-enable DAV syncing

it would really be great to see the current status of application passwords. Unfortunately, application passwords are an opaque part of the security page. It appears the app password section was taken out a few years ago. But now you can only add them.

But my initial question is can application passwords expire? Can we see if that’s the case somewhwere?
