Android app inaccessible on Wan after.htaccess implemented

Hi,

I’ve a Nextcloud (latest) instance running on Ubuntu 20.04 server. I have SSL with Certbot/Let’s encrypt. Https runs through a no-ip ddns.

Everything was running fine and then I added .htaccess to password protect the instance so I could add an html link (Apache2 server) to my website as a quick remote access for the family (via cloud.example.com). Tne password protection worked well but of course I can no longer login to the android app with the cloud.example.com address because the app has no way to facilitate the .htaccess password!

Is there a way around this at all? I would like the best of both worlds if possible, although I could live without the app if needed.
