After upgrading the Mac desktop app all files are resynced

Server: Nextcloud 23.0.2 (hosted at Hetzner)
Desktop: Mac (upgraded from 3.3.x to 3.4.4)

After the upgrade the Mac desktop app is resyncing EVERYTHING … it’s a disaster.
How do I repair and downgrade to a running desktop version?
