Summary of the issue you are facing:

It happens quite often that people from the same server share files or folders via public links (for example because the element needs to be shared with external people too).

However, is it possible for a logged in user to:

  • at least, add the shared element to its Files interface
  • at most, detect if they have internal access to the shared element and where the file is located in their files

Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

  1. Click a public link

  2. Look for a way to add the file to your Files and don’t find it

  3. Look for a way to know if the file is already in your Files and don’t find it
