As you can see in the video, when i register nextcloud’s desktop app with my instance, and put folders in it, as well as receiving folders, I do not see a indicator, in the app, or in dolphin (although this is probably a dolphin issue? unless nextcloud needs to expose the fact there is a ongoing transfer to dolphin), I would just like something to appear in the app like a progress bar or two for outgoing and incoming files, (considered as a activity or popup)
Not sure about Dolphin, since I’m a Gnome user. However, in the Nextcloud app, an indicator/progress bar is shown in the ‘Account’ tab of the ‘Settings’ window while files are being synchronised.
Addition:
Depending on your Linux distribution, you may need to install an additional package to enable Dolphin integration. On Fedora, for instance, the relevant package is called nextcloud-client-dolphin
This should add sync status icons and Nextcloud-specific context menus to Dolphin. In Nautilus on Gnome, the corresponding package also adds a Nextcloud shortcut to the right-hand sidebar, along with an indicator showing when files are being synchronised.
Shame it isn’t packaged for nixos, maybe its under a different name but i doubt it. I’ll have a look into packaging it when i am free, also they should really have a indicator on the desktop app for progress, maybe under activities, maybe a progress bar up on the top, or two for incoming and outgoing, it seems like a very useful feature than the user guessing if the file transfer is slow, or stopped, or so they know how along the transfer they are. I cant tell if its my distro or kde’s issue where they didnt include the nextcloud indicators but i’ll assume its my distros, although it would have also been nice if nextcloud offered you the ability to set up/install file manager packages as well.
I’ll update this thread if i package it or if a find a package that does this. Also i might make a suggestion for nextcloud to have some sort of indicator on the desktop app.
I just realized this thread suggests what im proposing, i’ll still look into what I can do about the file manager stuff, but I hope that some of my suggestions are considered.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any experience with NixOS, so I can’t help you there.
However, the Nextcloud client should display a tray icon in the notification area of KDE Plasma. This icon changes from a green tick to a blue sync icon (
) when files are being synchronised. I could be wrong, but as far as I know, this is part of the client itself and not the file manager integration, so it should appear regardless of whether you have installed any additional packages.
